God's Prisoners

Someone asked me the question, why do you call yourself God's prisoner when Jesus sets us free?

Yes, you are free from the bondage of the enemy (sin) when you are in Christ.  But you then become a servant/ a prisoner for The Lord.

Romans 6:6 KJV
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him , that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Romans 6:12 KJV
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Ephesians 3:1 KJV
For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ.

Philemon 1:1 KJV
Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellow-labourer.

Why did Paul call himself a prisoner of Jesus Christ?
Paul became a physical prisoner but he rather considered himself a prisoner of Jesus Christ.

As a prisoner for The Lord, he obeyed all that the Master told him to do and wherever He asked him to go even if it meant his death.

God's prisoners do not go where he does not want them to go. They do not do anything they like. They don't use their own will but the will of their Master.

Jesus said my sheep hear my voice and they follow me. The stranger's voice they will not listen.

There is no middle ground. You are either a prisoner for The Lord or for the devil.
